ABOUT SALT AND BAITS
There is a lot of hype about adding salt to a soft plastic bait so let me say just a few things about it to sort of clear the air. Salt will change the color and clarity of a bait.... It is unavoidable. If you add salt it makes the bait "whiter" and more opaque. Colors are not as bright when salt is added but that is compensated by adding more dye color.... The same holds true for the flake, it gets harder to see it so more needs to be used....
But what is the most important reason to use salt? To make the bait sink!!!
Soft plastics just naturally float (That is without the hook). So, for things like Senkos and other stick baits if you want it to sink for weightless fishing then add salt....if you are fishing a Senko type bait on a Carolina rig, Texas rig, or drop shot rig, then salt should not be used to keep the bait more buoyant and up in the water...
To keep you informed we weighed the Yamamoto brand 4 and 5 inch Senkos.
The 4 inch weighed 6 grams and the 5 inch weighed 10 grams.
